Wife, mum, writer, geek, gamer, warrior poet. Not necessarily in that order.
I'm Freya Robertson. I write fantasy and science fiction novels, short stories and poetry. My first epic fantasy, Heartwood, won the Sir Julius Vogel Best Novel Award in 2014, a national New Zealand award for fantasy and science fiction books.
I'm a gamer, and I love board games, PC games and console games. I've recently played Elder Scrolls Online, Dragon Age Inquisition, Alien Isolation, The Last of Us, and Assassin's Creed Black Flag.
I also love military history, and I am now writing a series of free short stories for the With Rifle and Pack (W.R.A.P.) website about Beatrix Viator, an archaeologist who travels through time. Why not call in and take a look?
I live in the Far North of New Zealand, the country now synonymous with Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. Well, what better place for an epic fantasy writer to live than Middle Earth?
